White tie

It’s certainly not every day that a man will have to wear ‘white tie’ as it is the most formal evening dress code one can wear. White tie tends to be worn at very formal events such as opera’s,state banquets or balls. Black trousers with two stripes of satin (braces are acceptable).
White plain stiff-fronted cotton shirt with stiff-winged collar.
White bow tie.
White low-cut waistcoat.
Black socks and smart black shoes.
A top hat,cane and silk scarf are all permitted accessories.

As evening dress white tie etiquette states that it should only be worn after dark (or after 17:00) and the jacket should always be left open. Before this time men are meant to wear ‘morning dress’.. For those looking for semi-formal counterparts of white tie they are black tie in the evening and semi-formal morning dress during the day.
